Assume that the client has given you a project to create architectural floor plans. However, the floor plans are without dimensions and interior details since the client wants your experience and expertise to use reasonable dimensions to design the floor plans based on the relative sizes provided in the floor plans. For example, if bedroom 1 looks bigger than bedroom 2 in the floor plan, your clients expect you to design Bedroom 1 with larger dimensions than Bedroom 2. The same applies to all other room dimensions in the building. The location of the door and window is to be kept the same as well. The project requires you to design all the floor plans and all the views of the building, which includes as follows: First and second floor plan with dimensions, interior furniture, required schedule (for doors and windows, etc.), stairs. Use different thickness for interior and exterior walls (such as 300 mm for exterior wall, and 200 mm for interior wall). Front Elevation and Right Elevation including the roof with desired finishing and Reduced Level (RL) Section View of the building at the locations shown in the floor plan. Roof detail and design of the building. Choose your dimensions but make sure they are within the limits for conventional residential buildings. For example, you do not want to put a door that is 15 feet high. We will discuss the design of elevations, sections, roof, and stairs in upcoming classes. Show your creativity in adding the furniture and plan your own space. You can use AutoCAD design center for the blocks required for your floor plan. In addition, free blocks can be downloaded for use in your project, as discussed in the class lecture.
